Job summary

GEICO, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary and a leading US auto insurer, seeks a Senior Counsel to lead strategic and complex commercial transactions, initially supporting Marketing. This role reports to the Director, Assistant General Counsel – Commercial Contracts and will draft, negotiate, and advise on a broad portfolio of agreements across products, services, and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in applicable jurisdictions and CLE requirements met
• 8+ years advising on complex commercial and technology transactions
• Proven ability to partner with senior business stakeholders
• Experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on marketing, advertising, media, sponsorship, agency, and martech agreements
• Strong judgment and ability to translate legal issues into practical guidance

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor a high-performance legal team
• Lead and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements with minimal oversight
• Advise Marketing, advertising, media, sponsorship, agency, and related commercial arrangements
• Support cross-functional leaders across product, technology, procurement, and other legal divisions
• Drive improvements in contracting processes and CLM tooling, including AI adoption
• Ensure compliance with Code of Conduct and company policies
