Job summary

Citigroup is seeking a Senior Lead Counsel for Spread Products with expertise in asset-backed financing and securitization. The role partners with the business to provide strategic legal guidance on structured finance, lending facilities, and complex asset-backed products, including auto loans, consumer loans, credit cards, and trade receivables, with global exposure.

You will lead cross-functional legal support, advise senior management, and navigate multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments

Qualifications

7+ years of relevant industry experience with in-house legal role in financial services.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills.
Experience with regulators/regulatory bodies is preferred.
Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of international, multi-jurisdictional laws, regulations and practices.
Experience with complex deals and ability to develop legal solutions.
Effective communication and negotiation skills; build trusted relationships.
NY Bar license in good standing to practice law.

Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel to the Spread Products business and advise on legal matters and risks.
Collaborate across lines of business and control functions for coordinated outcomes.
Participate in risk reviews, governance and control forums.
Identify and manage legal, regulatory and reputational risks across geographies.
Negotiate, coordinate and monitor complex legal issues and decisions within area of responsibility.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulatory guidelines.
