Job summary

Lincoln Financial Group is seeking a Senior Consultant, Legal Counsel to provide legal guidance for absence management products, including review of contracts and advice on employment law and privacy concerns.

The role focuses on supporting group protection, absence management solutions, and related services, collaborating with business leaders to manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5-7+ years of legal experience in a law firm, corporate setting, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts and present to diverse audiences.
• Experience advising on absence management, disability, accommodation, FMLA, ADA, or employee benefits matters.
• Knowledge of ERISA, employment laws, privacy regulations, and insurance industry regulations.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to balance legal risk with practical business solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert on absence management, disability, and accommodation services.
• Provide strategic guidance on complex assignments and initiatives affecting absence management offerings.
• Advise on legal risks and implement controls and process improvements in cross-functional settings.
• Counsel business partners on complex legal issues to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on business contracts with internal stakeholders.
• Lead projects to improve processes and operational effectiveness within Group Protection.
• Research and advise on laws applicable to insurance products and related services.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver practical, business-focused legal solutions.
