Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• 5-7+ years of legal experience in retirement and employee benefits.
• Expertise in defined contribution and multiemployer plans, ERISA and tax issues.
• Experience with MEPS/PEP plans and related regulatory matters.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal legal advisor for the defined contribution and multiemployer business.
• Lead legal support for ERISA, tax and compliance issues.
• Identify opportunities for product and service enhancements with business leaders.
• Advise on development and administration of retirement and employee benefit products.
• Collaborate with departments to develop practical legal solutions and manage risk.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable guidance.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will serve as a key legal partner to a retirement and employee benefits business, providing practical guidance on complex regulatory, operational, and commercial matters. The Senior Counsel will collaborate closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams to support product development, risk management, and day-to-day decision-making. This position also involves monitoring legislative and regulatory changes and translating them into actionable advice that helps the organization operate effectively and compliantly.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $138,000 - $200,100 annually

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal legal advisor for the defined contribution and multiemployer business
• Lead legal support for operational matters, advising on ERISA, tax, and compliance issues
• Identify opportunities for product and service enhancements in collaboration with business leaders
• Advise on the development and administration of retirement and employee benefit products

Qualifications

• Expertise in defined contribution and multiemployer plans, including ERISA and tax issues
• Experience with multiple employer plans (MEP) and pooled employer plans (PEP)
• Strong judgment and collaborative problem-solving skills in complex legal matters
