Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manufacturing & Technology business' Manager of Legal, provide advice and support to business development, project management, and senior leadership on legal and commercial issues involving Bechtel's Manufacturing & Technology business and its prospects and projects worldwide. This role requires the candidate to be located in or near Reston, VA, or Houston, TX. The position is part-time telework, requiring at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project, with weekly schedules determined by the employee and supervisor in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities

• Work closely with Business Development and Management in structuring, preparing, negotiating, and concluding transactions for prospects and projects in the markets served by the Manufacturing & Technology business (semiconductors, electric vehicles/batteries, data centers).
• Advise and support Manufacturing & Technology Management and project personnel on legal issues during the execution of projects.
• Provide advice and assist in the negotiation and settlement of disputed claims with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Advise Business Development and Management on the company's internal protocols and procedures to ensure compliance is maintained.
• Work on transactions independently with Business Development and Management under the overall supervision of the Manager of Legal, retaining outside counsel as needed and appropriate.
• Handle complex and difficult legal work requiring original and creative legal analysis.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Juris Doctor (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Current bar admission from a U.S. jurisdiction (foreign qualified lawyers will also be considered).

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Prepared to travel on an as‑needed basis.
• Minimum 10 years work experience with Engineering and Construction projects and related contract documents from a major law firm or major Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firm.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the company.
• Capability to direct and review the work of junior attorneys.
• Well‑honed advisory, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• High degree of business acumen and strategic approach.
• Experience with semiconductor or data center owners or projects is a plus.
• Experience with construction claims and supporting projects in execution.
• Experience with a variety of commercial contract models, including lump sum, cost reimbursable, and GMAX/GMP structures.
• Experience with intellectual property matters is a plus.
