Job summary

FedEx Supply Chain is seeking an experienced in-house attorney to provide legal counsel and direction to the corporation and its management. The role involves reviewing regulations, coordinating with outside counsel, and advising on strategic decisions to minimize risk.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate, 8 years of relevant experience, and active bar admission in PA or TN, with strong negotiation and policy-drafting skills.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school required.
  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Admitted to and in good standing with PA or TN Bar.

Monday - Friday - 1st Shift (Day)

General Summary

To provide legal counsel, advice, review and direction to the corporation, its subsidiaries, various departments and to members of management to ensure effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides legal counsel, advice, review and direction on an assigned basis to various departments and members of management on all levels, including executive management.
  • Acts as primary legal department contact for outside attorney communications on assigned projects/issues.
  • Assists in review of laws, regulations, and ordinances affecting the corporation. Counsels and advises all departments in response to questions/issues arising in course of day-to-day business of company.
  • Recommends and implements specific company responses to changes in governmental and legislative policies.
  • Performs complex research and investigations and designs, drafts and submits documents concerning legal issues to maintain compliance with various regulations; provides legal interpretation of laws and regulations.
  • Drafts and reviews legal documents and reviews proposed transactions to ensure maximum benefit to the corporation and minimum exposure to risk.
  • Negotiates the settlement of claims and suits against the company arising out of area of expertise and works with other personnel and outside counsel in the defense of claims and suits.
  • Creates, updates, and reviews policies and procedures to ensure that the company is operating in compliance with laws and regulations, and that regulatory reporting requirements are met.
  • Develops and delivers presentations and training to employees, including management, within area of responsibility.
  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates legal documents and reviews proposed transactions to ensure maximum benefit to the corporation and minimum exposure to risk.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Juris doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Admitted to and currently in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Bar.

  • Skills: Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to analyze, review, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to work and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player.
