Job summary

Withum is seeking a Cost Segregation Supervisor to join our Forensic & Valuation Services team. You will oversee cost segregation engagements, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with tax, valuation, and real estate professionals to deliver integrated client solutions.

The role supports a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in-office per week and may be based at various U.S. locations, including San Diego, Los Angeles, or other offices nationwide. Travel ~25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of cost segregation, construction estimating, engineering, real estate valuation, or a related field.
• Pursuit of CPA, EA, CCSP, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of IRS cost segregation guidance, tax depreciation methodologies, and relevant tax authorities.
• Advanced understanding of construction methods, building systems, and asset classification principles.
• Experience reviewing and supervising engagement teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of real estate appraisals, valuations, and property cost allocation methodologies.
• Strong proficiency with RS Means, Marshall & Swift, Planswift, or similar estimating software.
• Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to travel approximately 25% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Managing multiple cost segregation engagements from planning through final delivery.
• Supervising, reviewing, and mentoring associates and senior associates to ensure quality and accuracy of work product.
• Conducting and overseeing property site inspections to document building components and support IRS-compliant classifications.
• Reviewing construction cost documentation, general ledgers, contractor payment applications, and other financial records.
• Analyzing blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications to support asset classifications and cost allocations.
• Preparing and reviewing engineering-based cost segregation reports and supporting schedules.
• Collaborating with tax, valuation, and real estate professionals to provide integrated client solutions.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships through proactive communication and responsive service.
• Managing engagement budgets, timelines, and client expectations to ensure successful project completion.
• Assisting with practice development initiatives, proposal development, and identifying opportunities for additional services.
