Job summary

Fleet Data Centers seeks a Senior Cost Manager to drive program-level cost management for large-scale data center build programs. You will lead cost planning, control, and risk mitigation, coordinating closely with the Contracts Management team on RFx processes and contract negotiations with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.

The role requires deep knowledge of construction economics, commercial negotiations, and cost control within mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, finance/cost management, construction management, or engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years as a subject matter expert in Quantity Surveying and experience in the construction industry.
• 5+ years of strategic sourcing/procurement experience of which 3+ experience is working for a hyperscaler and/or data center developer/operator.
• 3+ years of commercial/transactional contracts negotiation experience including awarding, drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration.
• Sourcing, bid-leveling, cost negotiations across various engineering and construction vendors.
• Pre-Construction/GMP/Lump Sum/NTE negotiations.
• Quantity surveying/cost management for large mission critical and/or data centers programs.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong knowledge of supply chain management tools, data analytics, and BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost management for large data center programs including cost planning, control, and cost-schedule development.
• Collaborate with Contracts Management on RFx processes and on preparing, reviewing, negotiating, and executing contracts with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
• Manage cost checks and valuations, track payments, and handle change orders and variances through the contract life cycle.
• Drive cost control, risk mitigation, and status reporting for data center build programs; review design/general contractor cost estimates.
• Provide cost planning and final cost plan presentations for customer engagements, vendor assessments, and internal reporting.
• Communicate with vendors to gather status information and update cost estimates; reconcile changes during planning.
