Job summary

SLS Consultants, a fast-growing real estate development and construction consulting firm, is seeking a REMOTE Senior Cost Manager to join our team and drive commercial success across complex programs, including data center and mission critical projects.

The ideal candidate will lead preconstruction through closeout, develop budgets, forecast cash flow, oversee cost control, procurement, and risk management, and provide strategic guidance to clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in commercial/cost management or quantity surveying within construction.
• Data center experience required; mission critical healthcare preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, forecasting and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and cost management from preconstruction to closeout across multiple projects.
• Develop and maintain budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Oversee procurement, bid evaluations, and subcontractor negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks, support claims and change management.
• Act as primary commercial lead for clients and project teams.
• Promote governance, procurement and financial controls.

SLS Consultants is seeking a REMOTE Senior Cost Manager to join our team and play a key role in driving commercial success across complex construction programs. The ideal candidate will have experience managing commercial operations, contract administration, cost control, risk management, and project financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and cost management activities from preconstruction through project closeout across multiple projects.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting while overseeing forecasting, cost control, and change management.
• Manage procurement and tendering activities, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and subcontractor recommendations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks, support claims and dispute resolution, and drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
• Serve as the primary commercial lead for clients and project teams, providing strategic guidance on project financial performance and contractual matters.
• Promote best practices in commercial governance, procurement, and financial controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial management, cost management, quantity surveying, or related construction experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Data center experience required; semiconductor, mission critical, or healthcare project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, change management, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
• Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation Range: $145K - $175K
