Job summary

Ledgent is seeking a Senior Accountant – Cost & Inventory in the East Bay. This role partners with operations, supply chain, and finance to drive accurate financial reporting and actionable insights in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include owning inventory and cost accounting close, analyzing variances, and supporting budgeting and forecasting. Strong ERP and Excel skills, plus GAAP knowledge, are required to optimize cost performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly inventory accounting and cost accounting close activities.
• Analyze inventory balances, reserves, variances, and manufacturing costs.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Monitor standard costs and assist with cost roll-ups and annual cost updates.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to investigate inventory discrepancies and manufacturing variances.
• Support physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
• Analyze production, labor, overhead, and material usage variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and manufacturing operations.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes.
• Support external audits and provide required documentation and analysis.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
