Job description

We are seeking a Senior Cost Estimator (Acquisition) to join our team on a hybrid status between the Washington, DC Navy Yard and your home office. The ideal candidate will:

  • Forecast project costs in support of MARAD RRF program.
  • Gather details and compile data to estimate all production costs according to specifications.
  • Consider raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation for estimations.
  • Help determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
  • Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Rely on judgment and limited experience to plan and accomplish goals, performing a variety of complicated tasks.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.

Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 10 years relevant professional experience in a related field.
  • Ability to provide cost-related analysis and assessments of products and services, perform parametric trade-off studies, and assess cost estimates.
  • Proficient with modern computational tools and spreadsheets to conduct cost assessments.
  • Ability to develop program life cycle cost estimates and perform concepts and technology trade-off studies for programs and projects.
  • U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Operations Research or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, and calculus.
  • 15 years relevant professional experience in a related field.
  • At least 7 years of acquisition experience in cost estimating, serving a program office, PEO, Service/Defense agency level, or supporting a program that reports to a Service Acquisition Executive (SAE).
  • Certified in the Cost Estimating career field by a recognized professional society or educational organization (i.e., Career field specific DAWIA level III / Advanced, ICEAA CCEA, etc.).
