Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Senior Cost Controls Specialist/Cost Manager to lead project cost control efforts across our capital projects. You will track budgets, commitments, expenditures, accruals and forecasts, and coordinate monthly reviews with project teams and vendors.

Prepare monthly accruals, forecast costs, and explain variances; manage POs and supplier invoices for accuracy; support change orders and funding requests; and assist with annual capital budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 5+ years of project controls/cost management experience.
• Experience in energy sector projects preferred.
• Intermediate – advanced Excel proficiency.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Track and analyze project costs, including approved budgets, commitments, actual expenditures, accruals, and forecasts.
• Prepare and manage monthly accruals, ensuring costs are accurately recorded and forecasted in coordination with project teams and vendors.
• Prepare monthly forecasts and variance explanations, highlighting key cost drivers, trends, risks, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate monthly forecasting reviews with project managers and discipline leads to validate remaining work, commitments, and forecast assumptions.
• Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders; monitor commitments and validate contractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.
• Facilitate the evaluation and processing of change orders and funding requests.
• Support capital project closeout activities, including final cost reporting, reconciliation of commitments, and placement of assets into service.
• Assist with the annual capital budgeting process.
