Job summary

Ian Martin Group seeks a Senior Cost Controls Engineer for the Baytown Refinery project in Baytown, TX. This 12-month contract focuses on construction cost control for a roughly $1.3B brownfield project, including a $500M prime contract with Worley.

The role is onsite at the construction trailer near the refinery. The engineer will own cost control, drive CSSR reporting, and track contractor costs, while partnering with estimators, planners, schedulers, and accounting to keep forecasts aligned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline (engineering, business, or finance common).
• Proven cost control experience on large capital projects with detailed reporting and forecasting.
• Experience from owner's perspective or with an EPC contractor managing contractor cost performance during construction.
• Working proficiency in SAP for cost control and reporting.
• Experience producing monthly cost and stewardship reporting for project leadership.
• Familiarity with estimating and scheduling disciplines to collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Own cost control for the construction scope, including a ~ $500M prime construction contract.
• Track, analyze, and forecast cost and performance of prime and fabrication contractors.
• Prepare the monthly CSSR report and the analysis behind it.
• Maintain change control, cost reports, and forecasts using SAP.
• Use and build on Power BI dashboards to show cost status and trends.
• Develop presentations on cost performance for project leadership.
• Collaborate with estimators, planners, schedulers, and accounting to align cost, schedule, and forecasts.
• Support reporting requirements with project team and stakeholders.
• Negotiate solutions on cost issues between contractors and internal teams.
