Job summary

Black Box is seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to support Finance and Operations with inventory costing, labor efficiency analysis, and process improvements. This role partners with operational teams to ensure costs are timely, accurate, and well-understood, enabling informed business decisions across the organization.

The position reports to the VP of DC Operations and is integrated into the on-site Operations team, with data analysis from the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited college.
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience with Power BI and Power Automate is a plus.
• Experience with Office Scripts, VBA, and/or macros is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain BOMs and cost standards aligned with policy and production.
• Analyze purchase prices, variances and trends to identify drivers.
• Analyze labor production, efficiencies, and unit rates for improvements.
• Assist month-end close including cost data for billing and inventory reconciliation.
• Investigate inventory variances and root cause with Operations.
• Support ERP data accuracy and expand reporting capabilities.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting of project expenses.
• Partner with Operations to support performance objectives.
• Document internal controls and policies for inventory.
• Validate compliance with inventory policies and procedures.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis on material and labor unit rates for BOQ.
• Cross-train as backup financial analyst.

Summary:

Position Summary

The Senior Cost Analyst plays a critical role in supporting both Finance and Operations by delivering accurate inventory costing, labor efficiency analysis, insightful analysis, and continuous process improvements. This position partners closely with operational teams to ensure labor and inventory costs are timely, accurate, and well-understood, enabling informed business decisions across the organization.

This is an opportunity for an experienced cost or operations finance professional who enjoys working crossfunctionally, leveraging data, and improving processes through automation and modern analytical tools.

This position will report directly to the VP of DC Operations and will be integrated into the on-site Operations team and analyze data from this project. This role will require the individual to be on-site with occasional travel to the HQ located in Plano, TX.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Costing and Analysis

• Support maintenance and evaluation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cost standards in alignment with corporate policies and production processes
• Analyze purchase prices, cost variances, and trends to identify drivers and improvement opportunities
• Analyze labor production, efficiencies, and unit rates to optimize opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including compilation of costs (labor, materials, equipment, etc.) for billing purposes, inventory reconciliation, ensuring and timely invoice submission
• Analyze inventory losses and partner with Operations to identify root causes
• Maintain inventory costing methodologies and conversion cost drivers
• Support data accuracy and enhancements within the ERP environment including expansion of reporting and system capabilities
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting of project related expenses
• Partner with Operations to support performance objectives and decision-making Inventory Processes and Procedures
• Provide support in documenting internal controls, policies, and procedures for inventory
• Assist in validating those policies and procedures are being followed

Ad-hoc Analysis

• Provide reporting and analysis related to material and labor unit rates consistent with Bill of Quantity (BOQ) submission
• Assist Operations as needed, providing analysis and insights to support improved business decisions
• Cross-train on financial analyst duties to serve as backup as needed

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited college
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience with Power BI and Power Automate is a plus
• Experience with Office Scripts, VBA, and/or macros is a plus

Skills and Competencies

• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, nested formulas, and advanced functions
• Interest in applying automation, data, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and insights
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
