Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to lead standard costing, variance analysis, and cost reporting for designated product lines and sites. You will review work orders, perform close processes, and partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to improve cost efficiency.

Ideal candidates bring deep cost accounting expertise in manufacturing, strong internal controls, and experience with FAR/CAS. Knowledge of ERP systems and IPO preparation is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. government contracting cost principles (FAR/CAS).
  • Experience maintaining internal controls and supporting external audits.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
  • Experience in a privately held company preparing for an IPO is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication across functions and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting for designated lines and sites.
  • Review work orders, perform variance analysis, and close production data.
  • Support cost accounting close processes including cost rollups and reconciliations.
  • Strengthen controls and comply with internal policies; remediate deficiencies.
  • Oversee physical and cycle counts across sites; ensure inventory valuation accuracy.
  • Interface with external auditors on cost accounting and inventory matters.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering.
  • Support pricing, cost proposals, and FAR/CAS audit requirements.
  • Contribute to IPO readiness, audit prep, and SOX-compliant controls.
  • Provide cost analyses and recommendations for strategic decisions.

ABOUT THE TEAM

We are seeking an exceptional Senior, Cost Accounting to execute full stack cost accounting for a portion of Anduril’s portfolio of products. This role is critical to driving accuracy, insight, and control across our development, manufacturing, and production operations.

ABOUT THE JOB

Reporting to the Manager, Cost Accounting, the Senior will ensure consistent and compliant application of Anduril’s standard costing methodology and be responsible for detailed transactional and balance sheet reconciliation review. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical competency, strong leadership skills, and a risk-based approach in support of the company’s preparation for a potential future IPO.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Perform and continuously improve standard costing practices to ensure accurate product costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting for designated product lines and production sites.
  • Perform work order review, variance analysis, and closure for designated product lines and production sites.
  • Responsible for a portion of the Company’s cost accounting close process, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, absorption reporting, and reconciliations of inventory and work-in-process.
  • Support the adherence to internal controls to strengthen financial accuracy and compliance; identify and remediate control deficiencies as needed.
  • Administer physical and cycle count programs across designated sites, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper valuation of inventory.
  • Interface directly with external auditors on cost accounting and inventory-related matters during the annual financial statement audit.
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to analyze manufacturing performance, cost drivers, and production efficiency opportunities.
  • Support pricing, cost proposal, and audit requirements related to U.S. government contracts (FAR/CAS).
  • Contribute to IPO readiness initiatives, including audit preparation, systems scalability, and establishment of SOX-compliant financial controls.
  • Support the Manager with preparing insightful cost analyses and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Support the Manager with a continuous improvement mindset, prioritizing automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in all financial processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
  • Proven experience with standard costing in complex, low-volume, high-dollar manufacturing environments, with ability to grow into a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. government contracting cost principles (FAR/CAS).
  • Demonstrated experience with maintaining effective internal controls and supporting external audits.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar) and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across functions and influence senior leadership.
  • Experience in a privately held company preparing for an IPO is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
SALARY RANGE

$86,000 — $112,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
