Senior Cost Accountant / SAP Superuser
We are seeking a highly analytical and systems-savvy Senior Cost Accountant / SAP Superuser to join our finance team. This role blends traditional cost accounting responsibilities with deep SAP expertise—serving as a key resource for system optimization, troubleshooting, and driving best practices across our manufacturing operations.
You’ll play a critical role in analyzing cost structures, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring the integrity of costing and inventory data within SAP ECC 6.0. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys bridging finance and systems while partnering closely with plant operations.
This is a fully remote role, with intentional in-person time—expect to travel approximately one week per month to manufacturing sites and team gatherings to stay connected to the business.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Analyze production costs, variances, and manufacturing performance to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial targets.
- Serve as the SAP ECC 6.0 subject matter expert for costing and inventory—troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and support system enhancements.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standard costing models and methodologies.
- Partner with plant leadership and operations teams to identify cost drivers and implement cost reduction initiatives.
- Lead and support inventory processes, including reconciliations, cycle counts, and valuation analysis.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reporting packages to leadership.
- Drive consistency and standardization of cost accounting practices across multiple locations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with detailed cost insights and operational assumptions.
- Assist with SAP-related projects, upgrades, testing, and data integrity initiatives.
- Travel to manufacturing facilities (approximately one week per month) to support operations and strengthen cross-functional alignment.
Skills/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.0, specifically within costing, inventory, and manufacturing modules (required).
- Proven ability to act as an SAP superuser—troubleshooting issues, supporting users, and driving system/process improvements.
- Deep understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and manufacturing operations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling, and analysis).
- Strong business partnering skills with the ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations is a plus.
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
