Job summary

Plains is seeking a seasoned corrosion control professional to join the Houston team. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and sustaining corrosion programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting audits across North America.

You will mentor staff, analyze data in PCS, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with engineering to recommend mitigation strategies. A strong leadership mindset and fluency with PHMSA and NEB standards are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years corrosion control experience.
• CP-3 certification required; CP-4 preferred.
• Leadership and communication skills.
• Familiar with PHMSA (195.452) and NEB (CSA Z662) regulations.
• Experience with Corrosion Database PCS.
• Ability to implement and sustain improvement plans.

Responsibilities

• Support corrosion programs to meet regulatory compliance and participate in agency audits.
• Make data driven decisions to identify program improvement opportunities.
• Provide support in development and improvements in Corrosion Database PCS.
• Monitor and identify KPIs and communicate execution activities for improvement.
• Provide support to other departments in determining mitigation efforts for internal and external corrosion.
• Lead corrosion related Root Cause Analysis projects and recommend corrosion control solutions.
• Maintain external corrosion programs for Plains North America through data review and technical support for field staff.
• Ensure new programs and process roll-outs are effective and sustained.
• Mentor colleagues on corrosion data, mitigation, and monitoring techniques.
• Participate in industry organizations and committees as assigned.
• Develop tools to assess ongoing performance, measure results, and encourage superior achievement.
• Identify integrity threats and preventive measures for assets.

Summary

This position helps develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve multiple tools, processes, and programs related to the Corrosion Control Program, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities

• Support Corrosion Programs to meet regulatory compliance and participate in agency audits.
• Make data driven decisions to identify program improvement opportunities.
• Provide support in development and improvements in Corrosion Database’s, Specifically PCS.
• Monitor and identify KPI’s and communicate execution activities for improvement.
• Provide support to other departments in determining mitigation efforts for internal and external corrosion.

• Maintains external corrosion programs for Plains North America through data review, determine work for remediation, and technical support for field corrosion staff.

• Participates in industry organizations and committees as assigned.
• Conducts Assessments, evaluations, and tracks metrics.
• Interprets business partner needs, assesses requirements, and identifies and implements solutions.
• Identifies positive and negative trends in business operation over time to create a compelling case for overall process improvement.
• Gathers best practice information from external sources to create a compelling case for change/improvement throughout the organization.
• Develops and uses tools to assess ongoing performance, measure results, and encourage superior achievement.
• Identifies relevant integrity threats and operating risks for assets and determines preventive and mitigative (P&M) measures.
• Provides Engineering support for Integrity Projects recommending appropriate corrosion mitigation, testing, and monitoring equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

• Minimum 10 years corrosion control experience
• AMPP CP-4 Certification Desired
• AMPP CP-3 Certification Required
• Strong Leadership qualities
• Understanding of PHMSA (195.452) and NEB (CSA Z662) Regulations
• Strong understanding of internal and external corrosion
• Experience with Corrosion Database PCS
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to implement and sustain a plan
