Job summary

State of Oklahoma’s Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer IV at the Allen Gamble Correctional Center. This full-time, on-site position requires constant vigilance to maintain security, control, and custody of inmates, accurate post supervision, and calm, decisive action during emergencies in order to protect staff and the public.

You will lead or assist shift operations and support training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university, or a high school diploma/GED.
• Twenty-four months of experience in correctional or security work for a governmental or private agency.
• Possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.
• Subject to drug testing and fitness evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and supervision to inmates, manage post security.
• Escort inmate work crews and control equipment inventory and keys.
• Patrol yards, cells, and work areas; monitor inmate behavior.
• Maintain order during meals and recreation; report incidents.
• Operate security equipment and conduct inmate searches for contraband.
• Prepare written reports on inmate behavior and movement.
