Job summary

The State of Iowa seeks a capable individual to serve as an investigation lead or security specialist at Clarinda Correctional Facility, ensuring discipline, safety and security within the facility. The role includes direct supervision of incarcerated individuals and assisting with investigations.

Typical hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with Sundays and Mondays off; shifts may vary to meet operational needs. E-Verify and Right to Work compliance apply, with opportunities to contribute to the IDOC

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalency with one year of full-time correctional officer experience.
• Two years of full-time law enforcement experience.
• Eighteen months in state executive branch with duties leading/directing incarcerated individuals and security work.

Responsibilities

• Direct contact and supervision of incarcerated individuals to maintain discipline, safety and security.
• Assist with investigations and perform specialty security duties.

Job description

Performs advanced level security tasks as investigation lead or specialist capacity to maintain the safety and security of the Iowa Department of Corrections (IDOC), Clarinda Correctional Facility, an adult male correctional institution

Supports the Iowa Department of Corrections mission, vision, and values with integrity and commitment.

Performs related work as required.

Ongoing direct contact and supervision of incarcerated individuals to enforce and maintain discipline, safety and security within a correctional facility and assist with investigations of the Investigator II or specialty security duties.

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Sunday & Monday Off; varied hours -may be required based on operational and investigative needs)

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1. Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency, and experience equal to one year of full-time work as a correctional officer.
2. Two years of full-time work experience as a law enforcement officer.
3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Correctional Food Service Coordinator, State Industries Technician, or position whose duties included leading/directing incarcerated individuals and security work (e.g., conducting shakedowns, escorting incarcerated individuals, quelling disturbances, etc.)
