Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Housing Unit Manager III to supervise staff and manage housing unit operations in a close‑custody setting. The role oversees program design, education, mental health services, and disciplinary processes.

You will coordinate with program and custody staff, ensure compliance with prison policies, and may chair classification and disciplinary committees. Requires leadership and a background in corrections.

Qualifications

• Documented experience with report writing.
• Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques, and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
• Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures and/or Facility Operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff to design programs meeting offender needs and coordinate with custody staff.
• Direct programmatic/operational orientation of offenders including education, mental health, administrative segregation and work assignments.
• May chair the facility classification committee and approve unit classifications and disciplinary actions.
