Job summary

The Garrett Companies is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel - Construction Litigation to provide sophisticated in-house support across real estate development, construction, acquisitions, and corporate operations in Indianapolis.

You will handle construction disputes, negotiate contracts, and help implement risk management while advising leadership on regulatory changes and strategy.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with active bar membership in good standing.
• 4-8 years of litigation experience, including in-house or law firm work.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters independently with attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with solid business judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of construction-related claims, disputes, litigation, arbitration, mediation, and related proceedings.
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements and related documents.
• Develop and maintain litigation protocols, templates, and playbooks to improve consistency and risk management.
• Stay current on real estate, construction, and corporate law changes and advise leadership accordingly.
• Support the General Counsel and manage relationships with outside counsel and legal spend.
