Job summary

TV One is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant in Silver Spring, MD to oversee month-end close, prepare financial reports, and manage SEC filings. The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, SOX compliance, and ERP experience, with collaboration across IT, FP&A, and tax teams.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate advanced Excel proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while contributing to continuous accounting improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Proven experience with ERP systems; experience with system implementations or upgrades is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Improve processes impacting the accounting month-end and year-end close process.
• Assist in developing and implementing robust internal accounting controls.
• Prepare and record general ledger entries.
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Own the accounting for assigned areas including but not limited to cash, prepaid, and accrual.
• Prepare monthly flux analyses, corporate department reports and other reporting as needed.
• Assist in review of fixed assets in accordance with the capitalization policy.
• Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare supporting files and documentation for SEC filings, including 10-Qs and 10-Ks.
• Coordinate the annual external audit and quarterly reviews by providing documentation, explanations and support as needed.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes as needed.
• Support management in the implementation of transformation efforts and continuous accounting system improvements.
• Collaborate across departments and business partners such as IT, SEC reporting, FP&A, shared services and tax, regarding corporate accounting tasks.
• Support the Assistant Controller and senior management with special projects and strategic initiatives
• Other duties as assigned
