Job summary

Central Market is seeking a Cooking School Lead Instructor with availability to include days, evenings, and weekends to manage classes and ensure the freshest ingredients are used.

The Lead Instructor works with the Cooking School Manager to train partners, respond to customer concerns, test recipes, supervise up to five staff, and develop culinary trends knowledge to keep the program innovative and engaging for shoppers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in the area of specialization.
• Culinary school coursework/degree or related education or experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of food and culinary trends preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of department product, food preparation and equipment required.

Responsibilities

• Research and observe culinary trends to aid in instructor selection and menus for Partner-taught classes.
• Conduct cooking school Partner training with Cooking School Manager.
• Address Cooking School customer concerns as requested by the Cooking School Manager.
• Assist in recipe testing.
• Complete reports as requested by Cooking School Manager.
• Assist in maintaining sanitation for entire kitchen area.
• Assist Cooking School Manager in supervising up to 5 employees.
• Convey enthusiasm for food and develop broad food industry expertise.
• Understand impact of trends on Central Market customer preferences.
• Help Partners understand food industry practices and new developments.
• Respond to customer tone, emotion, context and nonverbal cues.
• Align Central Market offerings with customer needs and preferences.
• Provide customer service that enhances Central Market's reputation.

Education

8+ years of experience in the area of specialization

Culinary school coursework/degree, related education or experience preferred
