Job summary

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience as a hands-on Controls Design Engineer.
• Preferred 5-10 years' experience.
• Open to travel up to 10% to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Participate in initial equipment conceptual development.
• Design new industrial electrical control panels.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code.
• Implement control reliable safety systems.
• Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens.
• Manage electrical cabinet builds and field wiring.
• Introduce automated processes into production.

Skills

Proficiency with process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems

In-depth knowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, NFPA70, UL508A)

In-depth knowledge of Safety standards (ANSI, NFPA, ISO, OSHA)

Advanced proficiency programming industrial equipment: PLCs

Human Machine Interface (HMI/GUI)

Field bus Networks

Serial communication between devices

Ethernet communications between machine PLCs and database

Demonstrated excellence in programming PLCs

Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems

Proficiency selecting appropriate circuit protection and PLC hardware

Proficiency creating detailed schematics in CAD

Proficiency programming variable frequency drives

Exposure to a wide variety of production machinery

Experience with programming robots

Experience with Vision systems

Experience with National Instruments LabView

Ability to use 3D CAD packages such as SolidWorks

Education

Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
