Job summary

Vanguard, based in Malvern, PA, seeks a Senior Controls & Governance Lead for Client Administration to evolve the control strategy, roadmaps, and governance framework to align with risk objectives and regulatory expectations.

You will partner with Risk, Compliance, Operations, Product, Technology, Information Security, Internal Audit, and Legal to drive control standards, performance metrics, and remediation actions while mentoring risk professionals and enhancing process efficiency.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Minimum of five years of related business experience in risk, controls, governance, audit, or remediation.
• Advanced knowledge of business controls, risk management, control design, monitoring, testing, issue management, and governance.
• Ability to establish strategy, shape multi-year direction, and translate enterprise risk expectations into operating models.
• Strong judgment, communication, influencing, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead through influence across organizational boundaries and align senior stakeholders on complex risk decisions.

Responsibilities

• Evolves the control strategy, operating model, and multi-year control roadmap for Client Administration.
• Advises department leadership on risk appetite, emerging risks, control investments, and prioritization decisions.
• Leads cross-functional collaboration across Risk, Compliance, Operations, Product, Technology, Information Security, Internal Audit, and Legal to influence control standards and governance.
• Owns departmental control governance forums, control health assessments, metrics, dashboards, and reporting; provides insight into control effectiveness and risk trends.
• Maintains Client Administration control inventory and coordinates department risk assessments, including issue oversight and remediation tracking.
• Leads design and execution of control monitoring, evidence collection, and assessment of control effectiveness and sustainability.
• Drives remediation efforts, audits, regulatory reviews, and documentation of responses and commitments.
• Supports process improvements, control simplification, and automation to strengthen the control environment.
• Acts as subject matter expert for controls and governance and mentoring of risk professionals.
• Keeps knowledge current on Vanguard policies and regulatory developments to strengthen the control environment.
