Responsibilities

• Energy management: support, analysis, and reporting of energy conservation initiatives; upgrade HVAC controls programming and interfaces to optimize energy performance.
• Training and employee development: develop ongoing training to enable in-house staff for building automation service and installation; supervise staff as needed.
• Oversee building automation alarm reduction program; support commissioning of MEP systems; plan staff and contractor development.
• HVAC and control system management: program and modify user interfaces, perform software/firmware upgrades, and conduct system diagnostics.
• Ensure safety and reliability of building systems; coordinate short- and long-term projects with teams and committees.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Controls Specialist.

Monitor and analyze HVAC and building automation systems to ensure safe and comfortable facilities, optimized for lowest energy usage. Executes building automation system upgrades, optimization of programming, training, and troubleshooting and repairs. Provides support to the energy management program

Job Responsibilities

• ENERGY MANAGEMENT: Perform support, analysis, and reporting of the medical center energy conservation and management initiatives. Upgrades HVAC controls programming and user interfaces to optimize energy performance, improve indoor comfort conditions, and enhance system ease of use. Participate in and enhance a continuous monitoring based commissioning program to monitor and analyze the performance and energy efficiency of HVAC and building automation systems.Develop energy usage, economic and general program reports as needed.
• TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT: Responsible for the development and management of an ongoing training program designed to develop in-house employees to be fully self sufficient in building automation system service and installation. Works hands on in the field with trades people to reinforce classroom training.Supervise up to 15 bargaining unit staff as needed, including scheduling, discipline, approvals for time off and performance evaluations .
• Oversees the execution of the building automation system alarm reduction program.Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all utility and engineering building systems and applicable codes and regulations. Provides support for the commissioning process of MEP systemsAssist in planning and development of staff and contractors to address current problems and anticipated future issues and opportunities. Participate in work planning, goal setting and various committees (such as the energy and sustainability committee).Coordinate and manage short term work efforts and long term projects.
• HVAC AND CONTROL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT: Responsible for building automation system programming and user interface modifications including HVAC programming, graphical interface development, smart alarming development and auto-commissioning systems.Responsible for the safeguarding of the building automation systems servers and network hardware and database backups.Performs software and firmware upgrades.Performs HVAC and building automation system troubleshooting and reporting. Perform physical mechanical equipment room surveys to ensure that physical plant equipment is working properly and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in a technical field.
• 7 years experience in HVAC and building automation installation and service is required
• 4 years of supervisory experience.
• HVAC and building automation systems experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
• Experience with working with bargaining unit staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Alerton and Automated Logic Corp. systems a big plus

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 - $145,897.01 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
