Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Controls Project Manager to lead large mechanical construction projects in the local area, with remote work and travel to customer sites as needed. You will own profitable execution from planning through closeout, ensuring on-time delivery within scope and budget, while adhering to contract and safety requirements.

Responsibilities include scheduling, cost control, contract administration, and coordination with CMS, HVAC, and field teams to meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or an associate degree with equivalent work-related experience.
• Eight+ years of direct project management experience in building construction.
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple subcontractors and scopes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical material to non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in project management software and financial accounting systems.
• Commitment to PMI/PMP certification within two years of employment.
• Proven ability to manage a large number of concurrent tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the on-site execution for mechanical construction projects and coordinate the project team through to completion.
• Support sales and development activities early in the project lifecycle, including strategy input and risk assessment.
• Develop project schedules and manage execution against plan.
• Review contract scope and assess impact of changes and directives.
• Pursue change orders, prepare cost estimates and proposals, and negotiate settlements.
• Manage project costs, billings, collections, and overall financial performance.
• Maintain document controls in compliance with contract requirements.
• Coordinate with CMS, HVAC, and engineering teams to align resources.
