Job summary

ITW is seeking a Senior Controls and Process Engineer to lead engineering efforts, troubleshoot and optimize automated equipment, and support production with technical expertise. The role collaborates across operations, R&D, quality, and safety to drive improvements.

The candidate will manage equipment development phases, analyze data, and deploy advances in robotics, motion control, and vision systems to meet product specs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • 5–10 years’ experience in controls and automation.
  • CAD proficiency with Autodesk Inventor preferred.

Job Description:
Senior Controls and Process Engineer
Position Summary

The senior controls and process engineer is responsible for leading engineering efforts to troubleshoot and optimize existing automated equipment, research & recommend new manufacturing equipment, and provide technical support to production. The senior controls and process engineer will also work closely with other functions within operations, R&D, quality, and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control all phases of new equipment development from design approval through implementation, validation, and release to production
  • Analyze manufacturing data, identify areas for improvement, and collaborate with other departments
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and expand robotics, motion control, and vision system implementation
  • Determining the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications
  • Support PFMEA management for all manufacturing processes
  • Managing the transition of new product development deployment to production
  • Responsible for ensuring optimum design for manufacturability and test early in the new product development introduction process
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the facility and lead or support existing process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and report project progress to stakeholders and management
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 5-10 years’ experience in controls and automation
  • CAD proficiency (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Competencies
  • Experience with ladder logic and PLC controls (Allen Bradley preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Experience with analog and digital signal processing, sensor technology, pneumatics, and vision system setup and implementation
  • History of hands‑on technical proficiency
  • Experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
  • Must be well organized with the ability to multi‑task
  • Should have strong problem‑solving / analytical skills, as well as strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
