Job description

Our client is looking for a Senior Process Control Engineer who will play a pivotal role in collaborating with various teams across our plant to set up and maintain automation in the manufacturing processes. Serving as the site expert on automation platforms, you will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations. Additionally, you will assist, consult, and occasionally lead site‑specific projects, demonstrating a commitment to safety and clear communication throughout the organization.

  • Lead, develop, and support the implementation of process and process control best practices, collaborating with mill leadership to define mid- and long-term process control network strategies.
  • Research, evaluate, and share industry best practices, equipment options, and proven approaches for manufacturing control systems and applications.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process optimization, variability reduction, and cost savings.
  • Provide project and technical leadership, including training, for both local and enterprise-wide process control technologies; support and mentor local PLC Technicians.
  • Serve as a key business resource for the implementation of new process control technologies, including documentation, training, and system integration.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and lead reviews to determine applicability within manufacturing operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate teams and cross‑business process control resources.
  • Establish and develop partnerships with external vendors and suppliers of process control technologies.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and business leaders to ensure project portfolios align with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of process control engineers and technicians across the organization.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience; or an Associate degree with 8+ years of experience; or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC), human‑machine interfaces (HMI), and related automation systems, with demonstrated expertise in programming and configuring complex control solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex process issues.
  • Experience in controller design and control loop tuning methodologies.
  • Experience implementing advanced process control solutions, such as Model Predictive Control (MPC) for multivariable systems.
  • Proficiency with process historian and analysis tools (e.g., Aspen IP/21 Process Explorer, GE Proficy Plant Applications).
  • Experience with process identification and tuning tools such as Expertune, ProTuner, or Entech.
  • Programming experience in languages such as Visual Basic, C, or Java, and familiarity with databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing and supporting process control solutions within manufacturing environments.

Must be able to work for a US based company without requiring visa sponsorship.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary range is $90,000 - $140,000 based on shift, experience and qualifications, as well as geographical market and business considerations.
