Job summary

TechnipFMC is hiring a Sr. Controls Engineer, Services in Houston, TX. You will lead project execution, review designs, and provide onshore control systems support including troubleshooting and testing.

Key responsibilities include translating customer requirements into system designs, preparing technical documentation, and driving process improvements while ensuring safety and contract compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or a Sr. Controls Engineer, Services related occupation.
  • Experience in topsides and controls equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting including SCMs, SPCUs, EPUs, MCS, ETU.
  • Experience with Subsea Systems (Controls and Automation): Foundational in at least 2 subsea systems and Operational in at least 2 subsea systems.
  • Experience estimating and managing engineering hours and budgets, impact of customer, design specs, and contract variations on cost/schedule.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving network issues and using monitoring tools to ensure continuous network availability.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, including equipment installation, diagnosing issues, and problem resolution.
  • Experience in software installation, deployment, and testing.
  • Experience identifying non-conformances and HSE risks and implementing corrective actions through Service Notifications and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience applying lean methodologies and value stream mapping to optimize processes and drive improvements using structured problem-solving tools.

Responsibilities

  • Project Execution & Planning: Ensure timely delivery of project milestones; review engineering designs and documentation.
  • Provide onshore support for control systems, including troubleshooting and performance testing.
  • Translate requirements into system designs and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, shop work instructions, schematics, and procedures.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes, training, and documentation standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, operational policies, and contract requirements.
  • Support the maintenance, modification, and repair of controls equipment at the SCM lab.
  • Interface with installations and product engineering, quality, vendors, and global teams.
  • Research and resolve non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Conduct readiness and after-action reviews for maintenance, modifications, and repair projects.

Duties

Responsibilities include: Critical component to ensuring proper planning and execution of post manufacturing services to our customers. Core responsibilities include: Project Execution & Planning: Ensure timely delivery of project milestones; review engineering designs and documentation. Technical Support: Provide onshore support for control systems, including troubleshooting and performance testing. Customer Interface: Act as a technical liaison with customers, translating requirements into system designs and maintaining strong relationships. Documentation & Review: Prepare and review technical documents, shop work instructions, schematics, and procedures. Process Improvement: Contribute to improving internal processes, training, and documentation standards. Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to safety, operational policies, and contract requirements. SCM Lab Help Chain: Support the maintenance, modification, and repair of controls equipment at the SCM lab. Cross-functional Collaboration: Interface with installations and product engineering, quality, vendors, and global teams. Technical Investigations: Research and resolve non-conformances and corrective actions. Readiness & Review: Conduct readiness and after-action reviews for maintenance, modifications, and repair projects. Public Engagement: Occasionally provides external technical advice or participates in speaking engagements.

Rquirements

Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or a Sr. Controls Engineer, Services related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following:

  • Experience in the field supporting topsides and controls equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. This equipment includes but is not limited to: Subsea Communication Modules (SCMs), Subsea Power and Communication Units (SPCUs and SPCTUs), Electrical Power Unit (EPUs), Master Control Station (MCS), Electronic Test Unit (ETU).
  • Experience with Subsea Systems (Controls and Automation Systems): Foundational in at least 2 subsea systems and Operational in at least 2 subsea systems.
  • Experience estimating and managing engineering hours and budgets, impact of customer, design specifications, and contract variations on cost/schedule.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving network issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities and using network monitoring tools and techniques to identify and address network anomalies and ensure continuous network availability.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, including equipment installation, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and ensuring efficient and effective problem resolution.
  • Experience in software installation, deployment, and testing.
  • Experience in identifying non-conformances and HSE risks and implementing corrective actions through Service Notifications and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experienced in applying lean methodologies and value stream mapping to optimize processes and drive improvements using structured problem-solving tools.
