Job summary

Candidtalent is seeking a senior controls engineer in Baton Rouge, LA to run projects end-to-end across PLC, HMI, panel design, and drives work. The role focuses on Rockwell stacks, FactoryTalk/AVEVA/Ignition, and hands-on leadership in a small team.

You will own projects from concept through commissioning, with travel around 5% regionally. A strong base salary plus profit sharing and a path toward AI-enabled engineering define the opportunity.

Qualifications

• At least five years of controls engineering experience.
• Strong Rockwell PLC programming background.
• Depth in at least one major HMI or SCADA platform (FactoryTalk, AVEVA, or Ignition).
• Ethernet/IP and industrial networking competence.
• Ability to read, mark up, and adapt control panel and ladder schematic drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design or adapt UL 508A panels and program PLCs and HMIs.
• Design industrial Ethernet/IP networks and specify VFDs and drive assemblies.
• Run factory acceptance tests and travel for commissioning and startup (5% travel).
• Own your projects from design through startup and maintain budgets.
• Be the face of the company on client sites, coordinating with plant managers.
