Job summary

GCS Recruitment Specialists is seeking a seasoned Automation Engineer in Minnesota to design and implement PLC software for new automated equipment. You will leverage Allen Bradley Studio 5000, structured text and ladder logic, while developing Python-based control software for machines that run Python.

You will build ProFace HMIs, tune servo motors and multi-axis motion, and integrate vision systems and sensors. You will also craft electrical schematics and lead factory acceptance tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands on automation experience.
• Strong Allen Bradley Studio 5000 experience; Beckhoff, Siemens or CODESYS backgrounds also considered.
• Experience with HMI development, motion control and industrial robot programming.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus and OPC UA.
• Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E and machine safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Write PLC software from scratch for new automated equipment using Allen Bradley Studio 5000 (structured text and ladder logic).
• Develop Python based control software on machines that run on Python.
• Build and configure HMI screens (ProFace) for machine operation and monitoring.
• Program and tune servo motors, multi-axis motion and Epson robots.
• Integrate Keyence vision systems, sensors and IO into machine logic.
• Create and modify electrical schematics, IO lists and panel layouts.
• Lead factory acceptance testing, commissioning, code revisions and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with mechanical and vision engineers through design reviews and whiteboard sessions.
