Complete Logistical Services in Hanover, Maryland is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize high‑power motor controls and power conversion subsystems for aerospace and defense projects, including Navy applications.

This on‑site role demands hands‑on engineering, mentorship of engineers, and close collaboration with mechanical, software, and systems teams to deliver robust, production‑ready solutions and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field with electrical concentration.
  • Minimum 10+ years of practical experience focused on motor controls and power conversion subsystems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance; active clearances preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required due to government contracting.
  • Extensive knowledge of three-phase brushless motors and control systems.
  • Experience designing motor controls and drive layouts for optimized EMI/EMC, noise, and thermal management.
  • Proficiency with CAD, simulation, and analysis tools including Altium, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and similar software.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, dynamometers, spectrum analyzers.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication for detailed documentation and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical specifications and designs for low to high power motor controls, drives, and active front end rectifiers.
  • Lead and supervise portions of project electrical and control system designs, mentoring engineers.
  • Transform high-level requirements into detailed plans with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in design reviews and refine engineering plans.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to architect and troubleshoot systems.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians as needed.
  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain expertise and contributions.
