Job summary

IPG Photonics seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop industrial controls for fiber laser systems used in welding, cutting, and heating processes. The role requires expertise in industry standards and risk assessment practices.

The candidate will create schematics, BOMs, and PLC programs, evaluate costs, and lead continuous improvement efforts across global markets, including UL, CE, NFPA, and CSA compliance.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidates hold a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with strong controls experience.
• Experience in designing industrial controls for laser systems and performing safety assessments.
• Proficiency in industry standards including UL, CE, NFPA, CSA is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain industrial controls for IPG systems, including schematics, cable harnesses, BOMs, ECOs, PLC programs, and component specs.
• Lead cost reduction and value-improvement initiatives on standard systems.
• Perform and document risk assessments during the design of laser control systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete assignments and participate in design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for global markets.
