Senior Controls Engineer – North Staffordshire – Permanent – System Integrator – Hybrid/Home Working – £45-55k + overtime = £55-65k predicted earnings

Samuel Frank Associates require a Senior Controls Engineer to join a well-established, growing, and successful system automation & integration business in Staffordshire.

The company is looking for an experienced automation specialist with a background in projects, design, and commissioning. The successful Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line system design for a wide range of industry sectors.

The Senior Controls Engineer position involves system design, problem solving, modifying, and specifying end-client automation & control systems to exacting standards and timescales.

Key aspects of the Senior Controls Engineer position include:
  • Leading the software development of multiple projects, ideally in material handling, conveyors, palletisers, or baggage handling systems
  • Creating and implementing procedures for software development and releases
  • Designing, documenting, programming, testing, installing, and commissioning PLC control/variable speed drive systems (Siemens TIA Portal)
  • Utilizing Siemens TIA Portal PLCs for system development and installation
  • Understanding communication networks
  • Configuring SCADA systems such as Siemens WinCC, Intouch, etc.
  • Electrical understanding of control systems and component interactions, following electrical schematics
  • Flexible work arrangements, including working from home and flexible hours
  • Travel requirements: approximately 80% at the Staffordshire facility or from home, 20% on customer sites; typical project involves 7-8 weeks remote/office work followed by 2-3 weeks on-site
  • Location: North Staffordshire, accessible from Stoke, Macclesfield, Winsford, Crewe, Congleton, Stafford, Nantwich, Leek, and Sandbach
