Job summary

JLG, an Oshkosh company, in Hagerstown, MD, seeks a Principal Engineer – Controls to lead control strategy development for engine, hybrid and electric vehicles. You will work across hardware and software teams, use MATLAB/Simulink, AMEsim or similar, and transfer strategies to vehicle testing and production.

You will mentor junior engineers, build plans and milestones, and ensure results meet engineering standards while collaborating with suppliers and external partners.

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5+ years of related experience.
• Master’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering with 5+ years of related experience or PhD with 2+ years of related experience.
• Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle background with vehicle control system experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the exploration of control technologies and methods for vehicle control systems.
• Develop and verify control strategy for engine, hybrid and electric systems.
• Collaborate with software engineering and suppliers; deliver plans, designs and reports.
