Job summary

Venteon is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a manufacturing site in Saint Clair, MI. The role requires 5–7 years of experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI systems and strong PLC control system knowledge. Travel to North American plants, including Mexico, is up to 50%.

The engineer will design, troubleshoot, and improve controls systems, integrate networking and data storage, and ensure safety standards across projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferably in manufacturing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI systems.
• Knowledge of industrial protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+).
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to North American plants, including Mexico.
• Ability to design, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC control systems, VFD and servo motor controls.
• Familiarity with safety systems integration and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, update, and continuously improve controls systems including robotics, PLC logic, electrical distribution, motor/ motion controls, HMI, hydraulics and pneumatics, and vision systems.
• Integrate machine and plant networking for remote access, monitoring, data storage, and traceability.
• Collaborate with OEMs to ensure new equipment meets company safety and control standards.
• Integrate barcode reading and OCR systems into equipment and tooling.

Venteon is currently seeking a Controls Engineer to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in St. Clair, MI

Requirements of the Senior Controls Engineer

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field , preferred
• 5-7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferred
• Experience Allen Bradley and Siemens and PLC/HMI systems
• Industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to North American Plants, including Mexico
• Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC control systems and related accessories
• Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain VFD and Servo motor controls
• Basic LAN knowledge and functionality (TCP/IP)
• Basic LAN hardware knowledge (switches, cabling, routers)
• Ability to perform Software installation/upgrading
• Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems involving thermoforming, IR ovens, Hot Air ovens, Ultrasonic Welding, and robotics
• Knowledge of safety systems and the integration of those systems.
• Ability to communicate cross functionally with both plant and corporate teams
