TheRole

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, programming, and commissioning of custom Automation Systems. This position requires a strong technical ability in the fields of controls, electrical, and pneumatic design and is suited for a motivated individual who enjoys a variety of responsibility. Senior Controls Engineers at Convergix are responsible for leading teams of engineers and mentoring junior and intermediate engineers within those teams. This position reports to Controls Engineering Manager.

KeyResponsibilities

• Controls Engineer will work on various stages of automation and control projectsincludingelectrical design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA design and development, Networkingdesignand troubleshooting/testing/debugging
• Provide written functional requirement specifications and sequence of operation documents
• Interface with Mechanical and Electrical engineering to develop robust and efficient to program designs
• Assistelectricians in debugging machine wiring
• Write PLC programs for newly developed machines usingConvergixbase templates and programming standards
• Debug powered on machines to verify mechanical and programming functionality meets customer’s requirements andConvergix’sstandards of quality.
• Deliver an extraordinary customer experience by interfacing with clients and project managers to provide status updates, attend client field service and emergency calls, partake in customer meetings, and ability to share your technicalexpertise

Qualificationsand Experience

• A go-to resource for other PLC programmers
• The ability to take charge of a situation, find the proper solution and lead a team to its execution
• Mastery of PLC programming.
• Experience with motion control, servo drives, and VFDs.
• A detailed understanding of connecting with andutilizingvision systems, laser systems, MES systems, or Warehouse Systems (WES, WMS, or WCS)
• Desire and ability to help others troubleshoot remotely exercising patience and understanding.
• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Controls Engineers at CGX should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada
• Engineering graduate in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Systems Design, or equivalent experience/technical degree
• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; although this position is focused on local clients, you should have the ability to travel within US and Canada

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employeeis regularly required tostand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,talkand hear.
• Occasionallyliftor move up to 25 pounds.
