Job summary

CONVERGIX Automation Solutions is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and assemble custom robotic automation systems. You will work on electrical design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, and networking, coordinating with mechanical and electrical teams to deliver robust solutions.

Travel within US and Canada is expected to support local clients. The role requires strong PLC proficiency, motion control experience, and a degree in Electrical or related field.

Qualifications

• Mastery of PLC programming.
• Experience with motion control, servo drives, and VFDs.
• Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Systems Design, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, documentation, programming of custom robotic automation systems.
• Develop electrical design and control system concepts and layouts.
• Create functional requirements and sequence of operation documents.
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical engineers to optimize designs.
• Debug and commission machines, ensuring conformity to Convergix standards.
• Provide status updates to clients and project managers.

TheRole

As a Controls Engineer,you willbe responsible forthe design, documentation, programming, and the building of custom robotic Automation Systems. This position requires a strong technical ability in the fields of controls and electrical design and is for a motivated individual who enjoys a variety of responsibility.This position reports toControls Engineering Manager.

KeyResponsibilities

• Controls Engineer will work on various stages of automation and control projectsincludingelectrical design, PLC programming, HMI and SCADA design and development, Networkingdesignand troubleshooting/testing/debugging
• Provide written functional requirement specifications and sequence of operation documents
• Interface with Mechanical and Electrical engineering to develop robust and efficient to program designs
• Assistelectricians in debugging machine wiring
• Write PLC programs for newly developed machines usingConvergixbase templates and programming standards
• Debug powered on machines to verify mechanical and programming functionality meets customer’s requirements andConvergix’sstandards of quality.
• Deliver an extraordinary customer experience by interfacing with clients and project managers to provide status updates, attend client field service and emergency calls, partake in customer meetings, and ability to share your technicalexpertise

Qualificationsand Experience

• A go-to resource for other PLC programmers
• The ability to take charge of a situation, find the proper solution and lead a team to its execution
• Mastery of PLC programming.
• Experience with motion control, servo drives, and VFDs.
• A detailed understanding of connecting with andutilizingvision systems, laser systems, MES systems, or Warehouse Systems (WES, WMS, or WCS)
• Desire and ability to help others troubleshoot remotely exercising patience and understanding.
• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; Controls Engineers at CGX should have the ability to travel within the US and Canada
• Engineering graduate in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Systems Design, or equivalent experience/technical degree
• Reliable transportation and an ability to travel; although this position is focused on local clients, you should have the ability to travel within US and Canada

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this position, the employeeis regularly required tostand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel,talkand hear.
• Occasionallyliftor move up to 25 pounds.
