Zusammenfassung

Johnson Controls seeks a hands-on Senior Controls Engineer to design and implement industrial control systems for Stack Forging machines. You will own projects from concept to commissioning, balancing safety, reliability, and performance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will work on high-performance thermal solutions and automation equipment in a fast-paced environment, contributing to innovative engineering solutions and plant-wide improvements.

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls.
  • Design & specification of servo control systems and panel schematics.
  • Experience with EtherCAT, OPC UA, CANOpen, or ModbusTCP.
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, C#, Java, and PLC-based controls.
  • Familiarity with safety interlocks and machine safety concepts.
  • Ability to modify wiring in machines and control panels.
  • Understanding of PID and other closed-loop control theories.

  • Own cutting-edge control systems across our processes from high-speed laser cutting to precision thermal control.
  • Specify and select hardware, including real-time motion controllers and PLCs, with safety interlocks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather input, write IO lists, state diagrams, and specs.
  • Design power and control cables, run lists, and component selections; work with vendors.
  • Contribute to FMEA and risk assessments; push the envelope of what's possible.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will work with an interdisciplinary team to design and implement the industrial controls systems for JCI Stack Forging machines.Strong communication, flexibility, and the desire to “wear many hats” will all be essential skills for any successful applicant.You have experience working with complex machines from concept to execution, solving tough engineering challenges along the way. You take full ownership of your projects, driving them forward independently whilemaintaininga strong senseof urgency. You know when to pivot, prioritize, and adapt to shifting demands to keep progress on track

Who You Are

You area hands-on controlsengineer who enjoys solving complex automation challenges and taking ownership of machine control systems from concept through commissioning. You have experience designing industrial control systems, motion control, and electrical hardware, and are comfortable working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and technicians to deliver reliable, safe, and high-performing equipment. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, apply a safety-first mindset to every design, and are driven to continuously improve machine performance through practical, innovative engineering solutions.

How you will do it
  • Owncutting edgecontrol systems that cover our entireprocess;fromhigh speedlaser cutting to precision hydraulic and temperature control.
  • Specify and select hardware includingreal-timemotion controllers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor drivers, supporting single and 3-phase AC power system components, and associated personnel and equipment safety interlocks.
  • Workcross functionallyto gather input from many different stakeholders across multiple systems.Write andmaintainthe IO lists, state diagrams, and specifications for all machines.
  • Control and power cable design, generate run lists and makecomponentselection.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to design, build, and troubleshoot systems.
  • Contribute to failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments.
  • Workcross functionallyto push the envelope of what is possible.
  • Have asafety firstmindset when designing control schemas.
What you'll need Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of industry experience with industrial automation and controls
  • Design & specification of servo control systems
  • Industry experience designing panel schematics, panel layouts, IO lists, and state flows
  • Experience in robotics, industrial machinery, or automation
  • Experience working with a range of automation vendors,systemsand components
  • Experience using an industrial communication protocol such asEthercat, OPC UA,CANOpen, orModbusTCP
  • Experience witha programminglanguages like Python, C/C++, C#, Java, and PLC based controls.
  • Familiarity with relay logic for equipmentand personnel safety interlocks.
  • Experience with machine safety concepts and components
  • Comfortable making alterations and modifications to wiring in machines and control panels
  • Understandingof PIDand other closed loop control theories for mechanical and thermal systems
  • Practical understanding of PID drawings
Preferred
  • ProficiencywithSolidworksElectrical.
  • Experience with vacuum systems
  • Experiencewith hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin machine troubleshooting and repair

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $120, 000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
