Job description

Our client isseeking a Mid- or Senior-Level Controls Engineer to join their team in Addison, TX. This role requires strong technical expertise in implementing automation solutions using PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS/Delta V platforms. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with customers, lead a team of engineers, and deliver innovative automation solutions that improve efficiency and reliability.

This position also involves leadership responsibilities within the business unit, requiring problem-solving skills, technical proficiency, business efficiency acumen, and strong interpersonal abilities. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to secure repeat business with both new and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the design, development, and implementation of control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
  • Develop control system architectures, including hardware selection, schematic diagram creation, and system documentation.
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS/Delta V) and design HMI/SCADA solutions.
  • Utilize Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and other programming languages for control systems.
  • Develop databases for historical system data storage and visualization.
  • Implement industrial networking solutions (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.) to connect control system components.
  • Lead project management efforts, including execution planning, budgeting, scheduling, task prioritization, and team leadership.
  • Ensure overall project profitability and oversee daily operations on projects up to $10M.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians while acting as a technical lead on projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in automation and control systems engineering.
  • Strong expertise in Emerson DeltaV platform.
  • Experience in PLC-5 to ControlLogix conversions.
  • Proficiency in Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon PLCs.
  • Expertise in HMI/SCADA platforms, including FactoryTalk, PlantPAx, Aveva System Platform, Inductive Automation Ignition, and GE iFIX.
  • Understanding of Batch/Recipes, OEE, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Experience in industries such as Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food & Beverage, Water Treatment, and General Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematic design, control panel development, and NEC compliance.
  • Ability to lead engineering teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% mostly to Dallas, Texas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience in IT integrations and acquisitions.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for system designs.
  • Professional references from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
