Job summary

Doherty Enterprises is seeking a Controller to lead the company's accounting operations and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting. This role oversees accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions, maintaining strong internal controls and partnering with the CFO and executive team on strategic planning.

The position emphasizes staff leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across departments to drive operational excellence and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership experience.
• Experience in multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, retail, franchise, or consumer services is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Wealth Management is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of state and local regulatory requirements for finance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting, payroll, financial reporting, cash management, and investment activities for all concepts and entities.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Train employees on accounting systems, processes, and reporting.
• Prepare for external audits and coordinate with CFO and auditors.
• Manage financing activities, banking relationships, debt compliance, and lender reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and financial transactions; oversee budgeting and forecasting.
• Coordinate tax filings with external advisors and ensure reporting integrity.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Operations and leadership to analyze performance and improve profitability.
