Job summary

The Right Staff is recruiting a Controller for Fridley, MN to lead and scale the accounting function across a multi-entity real estate portfolio. This hands-on leader balances strategic oversight with daily accounting operations, strengthens controls, and grows a high-performing team.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in accounting, with leadership experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a track record in high-volume environments. Onsite role with competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Accounting focus strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, general ledger, and month-end close.
• 3+ years of accounting leadership experience, including direct team management responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
• Experience in a complex, high-volume, multi-entity environment; budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, develop, and manage the accounting team.
• Oversee AP, AR, GL, and month-end close operations.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple properties and entities.
• Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and deliverables for accuracy.
• Maintain strong internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Partner with executives and stakeholders to enable informed decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, automation, and accounting efficiency.
• Develop scalable accounting processes and workflows.
