Job description

All In One Accounting is a 7-time winner of the 50 Fastest Growing Companies in the Twin Cities and one of the Best Places to Work in the Minneapolis area. Our purpose is simple: to make the lives of entrepreneurial and nonprofit leaders better. We do that by supporting profitable growth, protecting assets, and amplifying impact — bringing financial clarity and strategic leadership to the clients who need it most. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which means clear goals, strong accountability, and a team that executes with intention.

A Bit About the Role:

We're seeking a Senior Nonprofit Controller to take on AIOA's most complex nonprofit client work, mentor other Controllers, and help shape the standards that define our nonprofit practice. You are client‑facing, highly advisory, and deeply invested in the development of the team around you.

Now About You

We hire for hungry, humble, and smart — and Senior Controllers at AIOA bring those qualities at the highest level. Hungry means you're not just delivering for your own clients — you're actively making the whole practice better: mentoring Controllers, contributing to firm‑wide processes, and raising the bar for what great looks like. Humble means you share your expertise freely, take direction from leadership even when you're the most experienced person in the room, and give credit generously. Smart means your clients and colleagues rely on your judgment for the most complex situations — and you've earned that trust by consistently delivering.

Client Responsibilities
  • Partner with CFO and Accountant to lead the firm's most complex nonprofit engagements, including multi-entity organizations and organizations with multiple funding sources
  • Support the CFO in delivering financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to Executive Directors, Finance Committees, and client leaders
  • Mentor other Controllers and support the development of the broader nonprofit delivery team
  • Own audit preparation processes including schedules, reconciliations, and auditor communications
  • Lead and manage complex grant portfolios with multiple funding sources, compliance requirements, and reporting deliverables
  • Drive firm‑wide process improvements specific to nonprofit accounting and service delivery
  • Collaborate with the CFO to deliver financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic insights to support client goals and decision‑making
  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical accounting questions across nonprofit teamsImplement and maintain robust internal controls across client accounts
  • Utilize current processes and tools, including code red alerts, to proactively identify and prevent fraud throughout all client accounting processes
  • Ensure consistent work quality standards across client mix
  • Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence
Internal Responsibilities

  • 10+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience with team leadership
  • Deep expertise in nonprofit fund accounting, grant management, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting
  • Proven experience leading audit engagements and managing auditor relationships
  • Track record of mentoring Controllers and developing high‑performing accounting teams
  • Strong client‑facing communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for nonprofit leaders and boards.
