Job summary

The Skills Coalition is seeking a Controller for Lincoln, NE, or NYC, with relocation offered. The role requires 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership, and CPA is preferred.

You will oversee financial reporting, tax, audits, and cash flow while ensuring US GAAP and reinsurance compliance. This position offers a pathway to lead the accounting team, manage ERP systems, and drive internal controls in a life insurance and annuities environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years progressive accounting experience, with leadership experience (5+ years).
• Experience in life insurance and annuities industry required.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and reinsurance reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Oversee monthly reinsurance reporting and settlements with partners.
• Establish internal controls and conduct audits for accuracy and compliance.
• Manage daily accounting operations: payables/receivables, payroll, GL.
• Ensure timely tax filings and develop strategies to minimize liabilities.
• Monitor cash flow and optimize working capital.
• Coordinate external audits and serve as main contact for auditors.
• Lead and develop the accounting team; oversee ERP systems.
