Job summary

The City of Aspen seeks a Controller to lead accounting, payroll, and financial reporting, reporting to the Finance Director. This executive role ensures integrity of financial records, coordinates the external audit, and strengthens internal controls within a collaborative government environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in accounting with supervisory experience, CPA/CPFO preferred, and a strong grasp of ERP systems (Oracle Fusion).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with governmental accounting and ACFR preferred.
• ERP systems knowledge; Oracle Fusion preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct accounting, payroll, and financial reporting to GAAP and GASB standards.
• Coordinate annual audit and ACFR; supervise journal entries and reconciliations.
• Improve internal controls and financial systems; supervise Accounting staff.
