Job summary

Specialist Staffing Group is seeking a Controller in San Antonio to lead monthly close, consolidate multi-company entities, and ensure U.S. GAAP compliance in a SOX-controlled environment.

This role supervises one direct report, partners with the Corporate Treasurer on cash flow, and drives process improvements across accounting, budgeting, and internal controls. CPA preferred; Bachelor's in Accounting required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of U.S. GAAP accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Experience in power generation, renewable energy, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive industries preferred.
• Previous supervisory or management experience required.
• Proficiency with Oracle ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage multi-company consolidations and the elimination of all intercompany transactions.
• Participate in the monthly close and reporting process in compliance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring all required transactions are accurately recorded and financial statements are distributed to the Management Team, banking partners, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly and annual financial reports, including supporting analysis and narratives for management.
• Monitor and report project expenditures against approved budgets.
• Assist the Business President in developing the annual budget and partnering with budget owners to ensure alignment between organizational objectives and financial plans.
• Support the Business President in monitoring budget-to-actual revenue and expenditures, analyzing variances, and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems, financial processes, and operational procedures, and present value-added recommendations to leadership.
• Continuously streamline accounting processes related to fiscal close and financial reporting to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and safeguards across all in-scope business processes.
• Partner with the Corporate Treasurer to manage communications with lending institutions, monitor credit facilities, oversee cash flow requirements, and ensure compliance with financial covenants.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned or initiated independently.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop direct reports to ensure high performance and professional growth.
