Job summary

MEPX in Indianapolis, IN seeks an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting. This direct-hire, full-time role reports to the President and involves directing monthly closes, budgeting, forecasting, and job-cost accounting to ensure GAAP-compliant, accurate financial results.

You will oversee the Accounting team and collaborate with operating leaders while maintaining strong internal controls and streamlined processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Ten or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls.
• Experience with construction, service, manufacturing, job costing, WIP, multi-entity reporting, or a publicly traded parent organization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, maintain general-ledger integrity, and prepare financial statements, departmental results, cash-flow reporting, and management analysis.
• Ensure reporting complies with GAAP and company policies; coordinate financial review with the President and submit information through OneStream.
• Oversee job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, cost-to-complete reporting, and project financial controls.
• Partner with operating leaders to review forecasts, remaining costs, change orders, margin changes, billing status, retainage, collection risks, and project closeout.
• Lead the annual operating-budget process, consolidate budgets, validate assumptions, and provide forecast reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, approval workflows, segregation of duties, and internal controls.
