Job summary

Legacybox is seeking a Controller to lead daily accounting operations in Chattanooga, TN. You will own the monthly close, prepare financial statements, and maintain the general ledger with GAAP compliance. You’ll partner with the CFO and other departments to drive forecasting, budgeting, and process improvements.

The role emphasizes strong operational insight, problem solving, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business decisions in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement prep.
• Experience owning monthly close and preparing complete financial statements.
• Ability to read financial statements, identify issues and explain drivers to leadership.
• Strong operational instincts and ability to tie activities to financial results.
• Good judgment and ability to work independently while aligning with broader business goals.
• Experience with accounting systems changes, integrations, or COA improvements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills across departments.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly and year-end close and ensure financial statements are accurate and timely.
• Prepare and review balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, reconciliations, and schedules.
• Maintain strong general ledger and GAAP-compliant practices.
• Explain driving factors behind revenue, margins, and expenses to CFO.
• Lead finance team and partner with cross-functional teams on forecasting and budgeting.
• Understand operational processes and link them to financial results for senior leadership.
