Job summary

Cox Consulting Network has been exclusively retained to fill a Controller role in Houston, TX. This senior leader will oversee GAAP-compliant financial operations, consolidations, tax compliance, and IT vendor management across family office entities, including LLCs, partnerships, and trusts.

The Controller will mentor the accounting team, partner with the CFO on staffing and strategic initiatives, and drive process improvements using AI, automation, and data analytics to enhance accounting

Qualifications

• CPA license active and in good standing.
• Minimum 10 years in accounting and finance.
• Public accounting background preferred.
• Experience with family office or multi-entity environments desirable.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Proficiency with GAAP consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
• Ability to implement process improvements using AI and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting team and set performance expectations.
• Partner with CFO to plan staffing and development.
• Maintain internal controls for accuracy and compliance.
• Develop and enforce policies aligned with regulations.
• Oversee consolidations across trusts, LLCs, and entities.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
• Oversee IT MSP relationship supporting financial systems.
